Simulation on the emergence of metastases in breast cancer radiotherapy patients using Monte Carlo N-particle (MCNP)

چکیده

The distribution of radiation doses in cancer patients who receive radiotherapy treatment depends on the distance cancerous organ to source, type including density and atoms organ. Even though exposure is focused that will be irradiated, surrounding healthy organs still have a great chance getting exposure. Healthy can exposed within certain period time are thought opportunity experience metastases. Simulation occurrence metastases around receiving has been done using Monte Carlo N-Particle (MCNP) simulations by ORNL- MIRD phantom model. simulation aimed at breast adding cells left depth 2.5 cm coordinates 8.63 - 9.5 46.87. results converted into dosimetry quantities describe impact organs. final measured dose effective dose. show patient’s body very wide, covering all under review, with highest rate value found as much 0.009079 Gy/s. received were lungs, 5.52 mSv followed breasts 5.28 mSv, it estimated lung considered large.

Evaluation of Lung Dose in Esophageal Cancer Radiotherapy Using Monte Carlo Simulation

Background and purpose: Radiation therapy make an important contribution in the control and treatment of cancers. Lungs are the main organs at risk in esophageal cancer radiotherapy. Difference between the dose distribution due to the treatment planning system (TPS) and the patient's body dose is dependent on the calculation of the treatment planning system algorithm, which is more pronounced i...

Evaluation of glandular dose in mammography in the presence of breast cyst using Monte Carlo simulation

Introduction: Average glandular dose (AGD), entrance skin air kerma (ESAK) and normalized glandular dose (DgN) are the main dosimetric quantities in mammography. In this study, DgN is evaluated in the presence of breast cyst, which is a common disease among women and the influence of size, number and location of the cysts on the DgN is investigated. Materials and Meth...

Assessment of secondary particles in breast proton therapy by Monte Carlo simulation code using MCNPX

Background: The present study aimed to investigate the equivalent dose in vital organs, including heart and lung, due to secondary particles produced during breast proton therapy. Materials and Methods: The numerical ORNL female-phantom was improved and simulated using the Monte Carlo MCNPX code. The depth-dose profile of proton beams with different energies was simulated. The proper energy ran...

Monte Carlo Simulation of Prostate Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy Using PRIMO Software: A Feasibility Study

Introduction: Nowadays Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) is a common method for treating prostate cancers. Must of the Monte Carlo software cannot simulate the IMRT procedures due to inability of these soft wares to simulate the multi leaf collimator (MLC) positions or movements. A new user-friendly software based on the PENELOPE Monte Carlo code named PRIMO was published...

A comparison of arrived dose to the heart in the treatment of breast cancer in different modes of proton radiation by proton therapy using Monte Carlo simulation

Introdution: Today, the Advantages of radiation therapy by charged particles is indicated for the treatment of cancerous. During the passing of proton beam in the body tissues, secondary particles produce, which penetrate to the body healthy tissues and cause damage. The aim of this research was calculating the Spread out Bragg Peak for covering the breast cancer and investigating arrived dose ...
